Dyson is a global leader in technology and design, renowned for transforming everyday appliances through innovation, engineering, and user-centred design. I worked with Dyson’s digital team to augment their in-house capabilities and shape the digital experiences for their first generation of connected devices — a pivotal step in extending Dyson’s products beyond hardware into the emerging world of smart ecosystems.

One of the core challenges was to design seamless onboarding and device connection journeys at a time before today’s IoT standards and streamlined handoff protocols existed. We needed to account for variability across networks, devices, and user familiarity, while ensuring that the process remained simple, intuitive, and aligned with Dyson’s premium brand experience.

By collaborating closely with engineering teams and testing across multiple device types, we developed interaction patterns and user flows that reduced friction, built user confidence, and laid the groundwork for Dyson’s evolving approach to connected living. The result was a foundation for connected-device experiences that not only worked reliably but also felt consistent with Dyson’s reputation for precision, innovation, and design excellence.
